Ms. Sallyann, Director/Curriculum Coordinator

Ms. Sallyann had attended college for early childhood education and then started her own in home daycare.  A few years later she had 3 children of her own who were among the first students at the Montessori Discovery school 29 years ago.  She fell in love with Montessori philosophy and decided to obtain her Montessori Teaching Certificate. After completion she starting working in our Aftercare program and eventually was our Kindergarten teacher for over 20 years.  Some years ago her Aunt who opened the school in 1995 decided to retire and Ms Sallyann became the director and curriculum coordinator.  She has over 30 years experience teaching the Montessori Method and very much enjoys being part of the classroom by preparing the morning challenging work.

Ms. Bethany, Preschool/Kindergarten Teacher

Ms. Bethany, (Ms. Sallyann’s daughter) was one of the first students at the Montessori Discovery School in 1995. She received her bachelors degree in Marine Biology and then went on to receive her Montessori Teaching Certificate. For the past 12 years Ms. Bethany has always loved sharing her knowledge of nature and doing fun science experiments with the children. 

Ms. Cathy, Preschool Teacher

Ms. Cathy graduated with an associates degree in Early Childhood Education, and she as well opened an in home daycare.  Years later she got familiarized with the Montessori method and got her Montessori Teaching Certificate. She loves having a large classroom filled with the diversity of different ages and personalities.  Ms. Cathy enjoys gardening and making salads with the children from the vegetables that they grow year round.  She has worked at the Montessori Discovery School for over 10 years.

Ms. Emily, Preschool Teacher

Ms. Emily started working at her Grandmother’s daycare at a very young age.  We were fortunate enough to have Ms. Emily join the Summer Camp staff when she was 16 years old. Ms. Emily found that she loved the wonder and curiosity of preschool aged children, so she obtained her Montessori Teaching Certificate and has been a Teacher at the school for over 8 years.

Ms. Dawn, Preschool Teacher Assistant, Aftercare Teacher

Ms. Dawn is Ms. Cathy’s classroom Teacher Assistant and one of our Aftercare Teachers.  She is a natural when it comes to children and we are so lucky to have her.  Everyone knows her because she works at the school form 8:00-5:00 Monday-Friday.  The children adore her soft personality and fun demeanor.  She is always wearing a smile and is there in a heartbeat to help.  Ms. Dawn is in the process of continuing her Montessori Training with additional Assistant and Supervisor classes.

Ms. Laura Aftercare Teacher

Ms. Laura is a Certified Teacher from Mexico.  She has moved to the Upper Valley with her husband, dog, and two daughters who are both attending College.  Ms. Laura and Ms. Dawn love running the aftercare program together, they enjoy being outside with children, playing games, and doing lots of crafts.

We also have many 16 year old classroom assistants who are previous students who hope to be future teachers of ours. They love coming and helping with Summer Camp and playing with the children after school.
